Below are the restaurant reviews I’ve blogged about since September 2006. The list is organized by type of cuisine, and restos marked with an * are my favorites in London as of December 2010. All the restaurant names are hyperlinked to the relevant review.
This list is definitely a work in progress. One of these days, I’ll figure out how to make pulldown options by neighborhood, price, features, etc.

came and try donna margherita restaurant and have a nice pasta or pizza and you will think that you finaly find a good place to eat a fantastik meal!!!!!
Can you review Mr. Kongs in Leiceister Square? I had a colleague who said it’s the best in London and I tried it and I thought so , but would be good to see your opinion.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this. Learned this week that my partner and I — and our two dogs — will be relocating to London after 12 years in NYC. Nice to know I have a place to gather information on where to eat and why in London like I do for my favorite restaurants in Paris.
Looking forward to reading your site and hitting up your faves.
Duse :^)
Duse – cheers, and good luck with your move back. I’d love to hear what strikes you about London after 12 years away in NY.
Ah, London will be a brand-new adventure for me.
I was born and raised in the States, lived in Los Angeles for ten years before my move to NYC a dozen years ago. Have only been to London once for a few days, a quick trip we made in December ’07 while we were spending a few weeks in Paris, a city I know very well.
So, London is a great, big unknown for me. My partner will be working near Regent’s Park — in Triton Square? — and we’ll be looking for an apartment in Marylebone or Bloomsbury, Mayfair or perhaps even Primrose Hill or Holland Park. Have to see what’s available and what we respond to.
Will gladly keep in touch and let you know what strikes me about London as a newbie. :^)
Spending a few days in London at the start of August and need your advice on new, reasonably-priced and worth it restaurants to go to. Already booked at Roka (which isn’t new but I desperately need a Japanese fix) and was considering Olivomare for some seafood pasta. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
Hiya, back from Jadis in Paris. In a nutshell: it was the perfect modern French bistro. Judicious use of sauces, classical ingredients, but modern presentation/combinations. Bistro setting – mixed local crowd of families, blokes, youngish lovers, and a trendy japanese couple (male). Food was scrumptious. Worth the schlepp – Eurostar delays (someone apparently hurled themselves on the tracks and all express trains in northern France were shunted onto local tracks) and then the metro offloaded us and we had to transfer to another route! Anyway..

I had the 32 euro menu
Cremeaux of crabmeat — couldn’t have been creamier crabbier; was on bed of thinly sliced radish adding texture and contrasting taste)
Chartreuse of pheasant (2 euros extra) – how to describe… little pieces of pheasant that tasted almost like confit, some gibiers or liver corsely chopped up, nuts –all wrapped in a case of thin, moist vegetables; was it all then steamed? mouthwateringly tender.
Dessert: pot of vanilla creme and chocolate financier; perfect.
Partner had ala carte which totalled a not inexpensive 45 euros. But, he did have:
oyster veloute (deeelish!)
hare prepared 2 ways; not my cuppa, but he raved.
chestnut/mount blanc role.
Plus:
Bottle of vacqueyras at 32 euros
2 pastis -5 euros each
coffees
Total: 136 euros.
Can’t understand any of the gripes on some of the other foodie blogs, whose main complaint was distance travelled for what is a “quartier” restaurant. I guess they’re spoiled!
Mike – Thanks for the writeup of Jadis. The food sounds creative and delicious, and I’ll be sure to make my way to the 15th (!) next time.
Just a tip: 20-50% off Michelin starred restaurants in London. http://www.TasteRater.com provides personalised recommendations and bespoke offers for quality restaurants in London and shares reveue from ads on the site with people who write the most helpful reviews (no downside for you just reposting the reviews you have already written — feel free to add a link to your blog, it will raise your google ranking)
FREE membership to The Gourmet Society!!
Hi,
I work for The Gourmet Society, the UK’s leading dining promotion which offers its members discounts at nearly 4,000 restaurants across the UK, from national chains such as Prezzo, Miso and Cafe Rouge to independent restaurants and even Michelin starred establishments.
I saw your blog and thought you may enjoy a free membership to the society. As I said it is completely free, all I need is an address and name to send the membership card to.
The way The Gourmet Society works is that members get sent a membership card which you simply present when asking for the bill to redeem the offer. You also receive a restaurant manual which details the restaurants we work with and the offers you will receive ( 1 of 2 offers – 2 for 1 or 25% off food and drink bill) and for how many people the offers are applicable. This information can also be accessed online via our website – http://www.gourmetsociety.co.uk – please have a look.
I hope this is something you’re interested in, and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi,
I trust all is well.
I would like to invite you to a press event, Prezzo are holding next Thursday 10th March at their branch in Haymarket hosted by Aldo Zilli.
Prezzo asked Aldo Zilli to design five exclusive pizzas for their menu after he rated gave their pizza 9/10 in a Daily Mail review.
The Zilli pizzas are being rolled out nationwide next Thursday, and we would like to invite you to be the first to try them. Complimentary drinks will also be served throughout the evening.
Please do let me know if you would like to come and I can add you and one guest to the list.
Look forward to hearing back from you.
Kind Regards
Liam
And I’d like to invite you all to see Love’s Kitchen. It’s about a British food, and a food critic: https://www.facebook.com/loveskitchenthemovie

Hi there,
Lov your blog btw!
I’m actually looking for American Women to take part in a market research group this week. Paying £75 for no more than an hour of your time and it’s actually really interesting/fun. Would you be interested?
Best wishes,
Emily
